Welcome to your Christmas movie night in experience

Welcome to your Christmas movie night in experience

Step 1

Leave the office (and if you are working from home, shut down the laptop). Leave your work worries behind and prepare to get festive.

Step 2

Click on the following playlist as you prepare all the goodies.

Step 3

Put on your Ken Hughes Christmas Socks (and test them by sliding around your kitchen).

Step 4

Time to make your popcorn.

Remove from the outer plastic pouch (you wouldn’t be that foolish to microwave plastic, would you?) Microwave your popcorn bag for 2-2½ minutes (depending on if a 1000w or an 800w setting).

Make the NICE version by adding some salt, or go NAUGHTY and indulge yourself by making the indulgent, sweet festive version (watch the video above)

Step 5

Next, make your Mince Pie Hot Chocolate.

Empty the sachet into your favourite Christmas mug and add cold milk. Add 100ml for intense, 150ml for medium or 200ml for milky hot chocolate. Again, microwave for 2+ minutes.

Stir the melted chocolate through. Sprinkle some mini-marshmallows, cinnamon, or cocoa powder over the top and you have the NICE version. Add in a shot of Baileys, Cointreau or Kahlua for the NAUGHTY version (highly recommended – it is Christmas. More is More).

Step 6

Light your log fire (if you have one) and/or light your cinnamon incense and let the smell of Christmas infuse throughout your home.

Step 7

Change into your comfy Christmas pyjamas and proudly choose whichever badge best describes you today (naughty or nice). Pin it on.

Step 8

Choose your Christmas movie from the following of my favourites. You can go off-piste yourself of course, but each of these is a classic in their own way:

The black & white classic

It’s a Wonderful Life

An angel is sent from Heaven to help a desperately frustrated businessman by showing him what life would have been like if he had never existed.

THE ROMANTIC COMEDY

Love Actually

Follows the lives of eight very different couples in dealing with their love lives in various loosely interrelated tales all set during a frantic month before Christmas in London, England

THE FEEL-GOOD MOVIE

Elf

Raised as an oversized elf, Buddy travels from the North Pole to New York City to meet his biological father, Walter Hobbs, who doesn’t know he exists and is in desperate need of some Christmas spirit

THE CHRISTMAS HORROR/THRILLER

Better Watch Out

On a quiet suburban street, a babysitter must defend a twelve-year-old boy from intruders, only to discover it’s far from a normal home invasion

THE ALTERNATIVE CHRISTMAS MOVIE

Tangerine

A multi award-winning edgy Indie movie, and one of the first to be shot entirely on the iPhone. A hooker tears through Tinseltown on Christmas Eve searching for the pimp who broke her heart. CAVEAT: Adult themes related to transgender prostitution, drugs, violence, and coarse language throughout (you have been warned but it is an ‘alternative’ Christmas movie for a reason!)

Now sit back, relax and enjoy a well-deserved magical Christmas Movie Experience.
